Archer Stackhouse, 1814 and Charlotte, 1816
Children:
C1-Samuel or Daniel, 1848
C2-Caleb Stackhouse, 1850
C3-William F Stackhouse, 1853
C4-James S Stackhouse, 1856
C5Mary S Stackhouse, 1859
I have been able to find quite a bit of info about the Stackhouses online. It has been very helpful in connecting families. I have tried to verify all info through Census records and other govt records. If something hasn't been verified I will state so.
I can only find Archer on the 1850 census. I found online that his name was Archibald (Archer) Stackhouse. I have searched for Archibald Stackhouse, Archer Stackhouse and just Stackhouse as a last name on Census records and can't find anything other than the 1850 Census. If someone has info or finds info on Archer I would love to know about it. I found online that he died in 1858 which explains why I cant find him on later censuses with his family.
I have found Charlotte on the 1850 and 1860 Census. I cannot find her on any census records past 1860. She may have died between 1860 and 1870 but I don't know for sure.
I can only find Caleb on the 1860 and 1870 censuses. I can only find Mary S on the 1860 census.
1850 Census:
Archer Stackhouse, 36, Blacksmith, New Jersey (birthplace)
Charlotte Stackhouse, 33, --, New Jersey
Samuel or Daniel Stackhouse, 2, -- New Jersey
Josiah McWilliams, 20, Blacksmith, 350 (value of real estate), New Jersey
Interesting Fact: The census does not list any real estate for Archer or Charlotte so they must have rented. Josiah is shown as owning real estate. ??
More research needed:Samuel is not shown on any later censuses with the family. However, if Archer died in 1858, Samuel may have been working somewhere by the 1860 census. He would have been 12 in 1860. I have found several Samuel Stackhouses on census records but need to do more research before I can say what happened to Samuel.
1860 Census:
Charlotte Stackhouse, 44 years, 1816 (birthdate), New Jersey (birthplace)
Caleb Stackhouse, 10 years, 1850, New Jersey
William F Stackhouse, 7 years, 1853, New Jersey
James S Stackhouse, 4 years, 1856, New Jersey
Mary S Stackhouse, 1 year, 1859, New Jersey
More research needed: I found several of the children on future censuses.
1870 Census:
Isaac Harris, 67 years, farmer
Sarah Harris, 50 years, keeping house
Caleb Stackhouse, 20 years, laborer
James S Stackhouse, 14 years, farm hand
Elizabeth Miller, 20 years, at home
More research needed:
I found information online about Archer and Charlotte. I have not verified any of the information but need to. Archibald was born 8/10/1814 and died 4/1858. He was a blacksmith in Harmersville, Salem, NJ. He married Charlotte Harris.
Archibald's parents were Caleb Stackhouse and Mary Sayre.
Their children were:
Abbott, Joseph, Rachel, Archibald, Elizabeth and Mary.
I was able to find Caleb, Mary and Abbott on the 1850 census.
The website that I found this info on is focusing on the Sayre line.
I have also found info/book on the sayres on usgenweb. Click here to see the book.
